At
CCE staff and students alike
are called to serve. And as future
teachers, students need to gain more exposure and experience
of a world in need. This year the fourth year students have planned a
trip to Botswana. They are a unique international group of eight ladies
representing the following countries: Romania, Botswana, Lesotho,
America and South Africa, (English, Indian and Afrikaans).
Next year, DV, they will be fully qualified teachers and all of them are
passionate about what they do. It is foreseen that they will use what
they have gained over the past years to make a difference in their
respective communities. They have a passion for Africa because they know
about its needs and they would love to help in any way possible.
Our Aim
Our aim is to reach out to the youth in the Rakops area of northern
Botswana and to give them a message of hope, amidst the turmoil of
modern day society. We intend to visit under privileged schools, to
encourage and support them.
Our message is Christian based i.e. high moral values, traditional
family life etc.
Our programme also includes puppet shows, short plays, stories and
songs. Topics like HIV/Aids awareness, True Love Waits, pro-life issues
and the dangers of drug abuse are included.
Student's
Individual Perspectives
Nthabiseng Sekhonyana - Lesotho

What I know of Africa is only Lesotho and South Africa. Hearing and
seeing pictures about Africa shows me how little I know about what other
people in Africa are going through. I have a passion to reach out to
them and help as far as I can. As a student teacher, I have grown to
love children and have a heart for them. I have a passion to help needy
children and I believe it’ll be fulfilled in this outreach.
Daphne Solomon - Stanger, South Africa

I have a zeal for little children and it is my greatest wish to give
something back to society. Growing up in a community where people work
very hard, I understand the meaning of perseverance and never giving up.
This outreach will help me to share this message with young people in a
poor community. I am inspired to make a difference. I want to use each
day, each hour and each moment to leave my mark encouraging others to
work hard. |
Lieketseng Sekhonyana - Lesotho

When I was doing my first year I got an opportunity to go along to the
Vilankulos Province in Mozambique. Initially my motivation was low, but
on my arrival there and seeing the need, my heart was deeply touched.
After that outreach I felt that I want to reach out to people in need.
Many people live in very difficult circumstances. Our aim is to go to
these people and give them the message of hope and teach them for a
brighter future.
Sue-Anne Currie - Eastern Cape, South Africa

My dream has always been to go out into the places of the world where a
great need is. I am crazy about little children. I think this outreach
will give us, as future teachers, an idea of what is needed out there in
the schools today.
Ronell Carstens - Cape Town, South Africa

I love singing as you can see in the photo, and teaching. An issue close
to my heart is unwanted pregnancies. I would love to have an opportunity
to share the pro’s and con’s with the rural young people of Botswana so
that they could make informed choices.
Bawinne Keforilwe - Rakops, Botswana

I am studying to be a senior phase teacher. It is my desire to go out to
different countries to share a message of hope with the people. In this
outreach I would love to speak to children in different schools and
identify their great needs..
Lidia Veciunca - Romania

I have a burning desire to work with young children. I’m doing
Foundation Phase teaching and my vision is to have a private Junior
Primary School in Romania. I believe that this trip will deepen my great
love for the needy children and that I will become more aware of my role
in society. I am sure that I will learn many valuable lessons during
this outreach which I could put to effective use in my future career.
